It was never about status, membership, or self-seekingness. It was never about the freebies and perks, the partying and the booze. It was all about the work. About trying harder, learning, practicing, and perfecting. In the end, it was all about capability, and, yes, acceptance. I didn't make it to the ball. My vitriol never fit in and my trying never really resonated. But my gratitude is unscathed. I miss the guileless comradship, loyalty, and earnastness... I miss the fun. And will cherish my memories forever, with gratitude and the learning to go with it.
